Seminar
On August 1 in Orzu restaurant in the city of Istaravshan there took place the regional seminar on implementation of the Aarhus convention and the State program of development of ecological education of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan till 2020. Representatives of the cities and areas Istaravshan, Shakhriston, Devashich and Zafarobod took part in it.
In the first part of a seminar the first deputy chairman of the city of Istaravshan Abdusattor Kadiri, the representative of office of OSCE in Dushanbe, Mr. Mukhabbat Kamarova and the representative of the Sughd department of environmental protection Hurshed Saidov acted.
Then the representative of the Aarhus center in Khujand as Ikrom Mamedov performed with the presentation. During slides information on history of adoption and the basic principles of the Aarhus convention – access to the environment, participation of the public in decision making process and access to justice on the questions concerning the environment was provided in the presentation . In particular, it was noted that the Convention was adopted on June 25, 1998 in Aarhus, Denmark. According to the decision of the Founder of the world and national unity – the Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan signed on June 9, 2001 at No. 594.
In a final part of a conference participants listened to offers and proposals of participants on increase in awareness of the public and access to ecological information.
