Zarif Alizoda: “The real victims are dozens of famous journalists who were killed by the Nazis”

 

As previously reported, the next OSCE summit will begin in Warsaw on September 16, 2019. In particular, the head of the state delegation, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Legal Affairs Zarif Alizoda drew the attention of the participants to the steps taken by the Government of Tajikistan on the basis of ensuring democratic values and human rights.

Zarif Alizoda, head of Tajikistan ‘s government delegation, said the 2020 parliamentary and presidential elections would be held in Tajikistan. “I would like to take this opportunity to invite representatives of the OSCE and other international organizations to monitor the electoral process,” he added.

 

Regarding the situation in Parliament and democracy, the Assistant to the President of Tajikistan stated that there were 7 political parties in Tajikistan. Three of them have their representatives in Parliament. There are also three factions in the Tajik parliament.

The head of the Tajik government delegation noted: “Group 24, previously established by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan, is an extremist organization and its activities are prohibited in the Republic of Tajikistan. Moreover, I would like to point out that the Government of Tajikistan and our leadership should not be allowed to be insulted at such a high-level meeting. The meeting area should not turn into a place of retribution. ”

 

  1. Alizoda noted that the legal basis for the protection of journalists in the Republic of Tajikistan is fully ensured. In 2012, articles on abuse were removed from the Criminal Code of Tajikistan. The dissemination of false information by journalists is now considered a civil process. Moreover, under the current legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan, criminal penalties are provided for obstructing the activities of journalists.

 

“Unfortunately, we are talking about the rights and freedoms of journalists, but we do not discuss the responsibility of this category. Only joint consideration of rights, freedoms and duties can solve problems in the field of journalism, “- said Zarif Alizoda.
