DUSHANBE, 10.01.2020. / NIAT “Khovar”. On the evening of January 9, 2020, a large group of residents of the Koktosh village of the village council of Aksai, Batken district, who were armed with hunting weapons, gathered near the house of Kyrgyz citizen Abdulaev Sultanbek Ismailovich and blocked the passage of citizens of the Republic of Tatarstan along the road of the village of Somoniyon of the village council of Chorkukh in Isfara.
At about 9.30 a.m. they threw stones at a Mercedes-Benz passenger car belonging to a resident of the Khojai village, Alo Azamov Zafaru, as a result of which glass was broken in it.
In response to the provocative actions of Kyrgyz citizens, at 00:10, residents of the Khojai Alo village threw stones at a Kyrgyz citizen’s car.
Representatives of the Isfara city police department-2 and the Batken district police department arrived at the scene of the incident in time and took control of the situation.
On January 10, 2020, at about 2 a.m., residents of the village of Koktosh fired a shot from the hunting rifle, but law enforcement officials and border guards of the two countries jointly suppressed this provocation.
Despite this, at about 4 o’clock on the Kyrgyz side, a personal vehicle of an Isfar city police officer, Ikromzod Farhod, was fired from a hunting rifle, who, by a lucky chance, was not injured, since the bullet hit the car door.
Currently, shooting has been stopped in this border region, the situation is under control. A joint investigative group of law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic is investigating the incident in order to find out its motives and identify the instigators.
Of particular concern are the frequent cases of the use of hunting weapons by individual citizens of Kyrgyzstan for the purpose of provocations that pose a direct threat to the life and health of Tajik citizens, as happened on December 29, 2019 in relation to T. Safarova, a resident of the Somoniyon village of Isfara.
In this regard, the Tajik side declares that in such cases all responsibility lies with the relevant authorities of the neighboring state.
